Key Stage 3 (Years 6, 7, 8 and 9)

In Key Stage 3 students follow a curriculum based on the National Curriculum of England and Wales. As such, it provides continuity for students progressing from our Primary School and a recognised framework for students joining the BOS for the first time.

Nevertheless, as in all stages at the BOS, we offer an enhanced Key Stage 3 curriculum to ensure that all of our students make the most of these three crucial years. Therefore, the curriculum remains broad, but work in some subjects is accelerated and a degree of streaming is introduced.

All subjects at Key Stage 3 are compulsory. They include core subjects: English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities as well as additional subjects: Art, French, Urdu and PE.

In addition, all students take a course that combines aspects of general studies, thinking skills and and emotional intelligence. This course is designed to give students the tools they need to think critically about the world in which they live; as well as to flourish in it.

In addition to classes, students in Key Stage 3 are expected to develop their skills, values and attitudes through a variety of enrichment activities. In most cases these will be school based. However, students will also undertake activities outside school. These may take the form of service in the local community as well as further afield through our links with schools abroad.
